Massive quantities of vehicles and weapons. Fast paced action in many many different types of play. 11 maps to completely customize with the Forge feature where you can add or subtract almost anything to the map.
But all that aside, my favorite feature, by far, is the Theater where you can view and save all of the replays of the games you have recently played. With this replay, you can take screenshots, remove cool video clips, or save the entire movie. Then, you can send any of that media to friends or other players and gloat about how you killed them or you can view the screenshots on Bundie.net with the rest of your game stats. It is a lot of fun, and I will most likely be sharing a few of the pics here, like below. Hope you enjoy.
Be careful about clicking on the pics. They are high-res.
Runnin' an' gunnin'. Check out my wolf-on-yellow-shield emblem on my arm. You get to create your own which is neat.

Still blasting.

And a reload.

Trying the new armor I unlocked.

ReplyDeleteSorry man, but Halo is lame. Bungie really went down hill after they were bought out by MSFT. People claim that Halo is such a great shooter but that's because consoles are starved for good shooters. Playing a FPS on a console is like trying to make fire with flint and knife, it's like going back to the stone age.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I strongly disagree. I love the games and they have only risen in my eyes as far as entertainment. FPSs on consoles are a blast to me and always have been. I imagine that you refer specifically to the controls, which some people, for many different reasons, can't seem to swallow. I have never had that problem, and have only seen it in a few people that I know. But, to the millions that play and love console shooters, there is nothing better. NOTHING compares to getting some buddies together, drinking some beer, and gloating about that head-shot that everyone saw clearly. Yes, you can do this in a PC LAN environment, but it takes far more effort and equipment. Here, people can come over for an hour and just have a blast.
ReplyDeleteFor me, nothing has ever come close to the enjoyment I have always gotten out of console FPSs. Ever since GoldenEye for the N64, the household console tournaments that are born of the challenges and smack-talk between buddies have always been something special that nothing, not even LAN parties, has matched.
All that said, I am sorry that you don't enjoy the games or the console FPS genre. We will just have to agree to disagree.
Golden was a sweet FPS on the console. Halo is just bland no matter how you try to spin it.
ReplyDeleteGolden = Golden Eye
ReplyDeleteOh, and just cause you can drink beer with your buddies around a console doesn't change the fact that First Person Shooters on consoles is gimped and stupid.
ReplyDeleteI guess you'd have to be drunk to tolerate how inaccurate the controls are.
Wow, did FPS console games come in the night and kill your family? There is nothing bland about Halo. I am laughing and enjoying myself every step of the way. No one is spinning it, its fun. At what point are the controls "inaccurate"? You do realize that there are many PC players that use controllers with PC FPSs? Again, I definitely see this as a preference issue rather than black and white. Some people enjoy the controller, some do not, and some just don't mind. I don't think there is a general statement for either side that it is "stupid".
ReplyDelete"Wow, did FPS console games come in the night and kill your family?"
ReplyDeleteYes they did, and I no longer want to talk about it. /sobs
That would make a strange 911 call.
ReplyDeleteAs a majority, PC FPS' definitely take the win.
However, GoldenEye on 64 proved that SOME console FPS are excellent.
I mean, Turok was fucking awesome, too. But the multiplayer was lame as hell, so that kind of takes it out of the race.
All I can say is, when a console version and a PC version of a FPS are made, the PC is always vastly superior. Duke Nukem as an old school example. The graphics for it on N64 were mind-bogglingly horrible. But on the PC, for their time, they were very cool.
Doom is another perfect example.
As for Halo, I have never really played it much, but as I personally am not a fan of multiplayer shooters, I cannot opinion about the game.
Oh, and the best multiplayer game of all time is Smash Bros.
ReplyDeleteHands down.
Ah Smash Bros. Good times.
