9/11...

9/11 today. I, as well as most, remember what happened on this fateful day years ago. Thinking back, I even remember where I was and what I was doing. We all know what 9/11 means in general for the United States and how life changed. But today I ask the question that we all should ask ourselves: "What does 9/11 mean to me?"

My answer to that question is this: That was the day I felt such overwhelming pride in my country and her citizens. Everyone had a flag up. Looking into most people's eyes, I could see the pain and anger, as if their own family had been killed in the tragedy. Suddenly everyone was American. I had never felt such unity before in my life. I will always look up to those heroes in New York. Firemen, Police, everyday people risking their lives for others. I only hope that I would react the same. That same selfless honor, courage, and sacrifice. So, in that sense, 9/11 to me IS America. And God bless her.
